Historic Wagon Wheel Motel featuring Connie's Shoppe now on Facebook
Cuba MO: The historic Wagon Wheel now has a presence on Facebook. The Historic Wagon Wheel Motel featuring Connie's Shoppe fan page offers information and photos about the Route 66 Motel and Gift Shoppe.
According to the new owner Connie Echols, "The Facebook page offers a little history, some construction updates, and information about what the gift shop has to offer." The Facebook fan page is a way for Route 66 travelers and others to make a connection to the historic landmark. The fan page is rich in both historic and current photos.
Since Connie Echols began her renovation of the Wagon Wheel Café building and the Wagon Wheel Motel in 2009, times have been hectic for the new owner. Construction is ongoing, and often Echols is the middle of it wielding a hammer or a broom.
The Café building is complete, and Connie's Shoppe is offers Route 66 memorabilia, purses, jewelry, and home décor. The Shoppe also serves as the office for the motel.
Restoration on the Wagon Wheel Motel continues, and the first Tudor-style units should be finished in May. Restoration of the second set of units is underway. Echols looks forward to sharing the historic Wagon Wheel with Route 66 travelers and families wanting an authentic Route 66 experience.
"I hope the Wagon Wheel will appeal to car and motorcycle clubs, groups visiting area attractions and events, and just someone wanting a more historic Route 66 experience," Echols stated.
The Facebook page allows a glimpse of Wagon Wheel Motel's history and present progress. Echols hopes visitors will find information that brings them to both the page and, eventually, to the motel.
